Inside the students' school agenda is a section that talks about Inclement Weather. The section indicates that students will have an indoor recess when the temperature is -20 Celsius and below. One reason for this cut-off is the number of students who come to school not adequately dressed for the cold weather. However, many students come to school with warm clothes and they like to go outside for recess, even when it's cold.
Those students who are dressed for the weather and want to go outside and enjoy some winter fun may do so within the following parameters. Using the attached guide, if the weather cools to the light blue zone, students will be allowed outside for the shorter 10 min recesses. The regular adult supervisors will also go outside. Colder than light blue means that no students go outside for recess, regardless of how well dressed they may be. We will change our agenda message accordingly for next year.
